Fore A Laugh - The Treasure In The Trees πŸŒ΄πŸ’

At some point we've all hit a horrible drive into the trees. But what makes it more bearable?Walking out with 5 Pro V1s and 3 TP5x 😎That's why I think we can all relate to this meme πŸ‘‡

Talking Point - What Makes A Good Pre Shot Routine? πŸ€”

A solid pre shot routine can transform an amateurs game. That might sound a bit farfetched but I truly believe this and so do many leading coaches. We've looked at what makes a good pre shot routine below πŸ‘‡

First of all, it's worth noting that it should be personalized to your own needs and preferences. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to pre shot routines!

That being said, there are a few key components that can make a pre-shot routine effective. Let's take a closer look at them:

  1. Consistency: A good pre-shot routine should be consistent and reliable. It should be something you can do the same way, every single time, to help you feel more comfortable and confident. This can help you maintain consistency in your game and eliminate some of the uncertainty that comes with each shot.

  2. Physical Cues: Physical cues can be a powerful tool in a pre-shot routine. They can help you get into the right mindset before each shot and remind you of your goals and objectives. Adam Scott's pre-shot routine, for example, involves setting the clubface towards the target, which helps him grip the club the same way every time. Find a physical cue that works for you and stick with it.

  3. Mental Preparation: A pre-shot routine is not just about physical consistency, it's also about mental preparation. By having a set routine, you can get your mind in the right place before each shot. Try to incorporate mental cues and reminders into your pre-shot routine to help you stay in the present moment and focused on the task at hand.

  4. Timing: A good pre-shot routine should not take too long or be too rushed. It should be something you can complete in a reasonable amount of time without feeling rushed or pressured. Find a pace that works for you and helps you feel comfortable and in control.

In conclusion, a good pre-shot routine is all about finding what works for you. It should be consistent, reliable, and personalized to your own needs and preferences. By incorporating physical cues, mental preparation, and finding the right timing, you can develop a pre-shot routine that helps you stay focused, confident, and consistent on the golf course. So, take some time to experiment and find your perfect pre-shot routine.

Equipment Round Up - Ping Anser 2D 😍

Ping has released its 2023 range of putters, which includes ten different head styles. This review focuses on the Anser 2D, a modern adaptation of the classic Anser design...

The all black Ping Anser 2D.

Who is it for? Players wanting a blade putter but with extra forgiveness. Due to it's toe hang it is suited to players with a slight arc in their putting stroke.

What about the tech? The Anser 2D has a wider profile than more traditional Ansers. The face has a softer feel thanks to a new Pebax insert which sits in the middle of a shallow milled surround, this provides a soft feel and consistent ball speeds with a quieter sound. The head features tunsten weights in the heel and toe, this provides stability and extra forgiveness.

How do they look? For me this is where this putters stands out from the crowd. The grip, shaft and head are all matte black. There is a single white alignment line on top of the head and the ping logo on the back. These stealthy looks make this one of the best looking putters on the market 😍.

The headcover of this club also deserves a mention. It's a really premium headcover that is simple but beautiful in design. πŸ‘‡

Ping Anser 2D headcover.

What is performance like? Very very good πŸ‘. I was initially concerned about the small size of the Pebax insert on the face, however, after testing these concerns went away. From both short and long range I was confident of putting a good roll on the ball. It is a lot more forgiving than other blades I have tried.

In summary, I was really impressed with the Ping Anser 2D. I know a lot of golfers who would love to game a blade style putter but are scared by the lack of forgiveness. This putter might solve that problem, it couples the traditional Anser look with a high level of forgiveness.

On Tour - Fitzpatrick Beats Spieth In A Play-Off πŸ†

PGA Tour

It was the RBC Heritage from Harbour Town Golf Links on the PGA Tour last weekend.

And there was a thrilling end to the tournament.

Both Jordan Spieth and Matt Fitzpatrick ended up -17 after 72 holes. This led to a highly competitive play off where Spieth missed putts to win on the first two play-off holes. Fitzpatrick then birdied the third to win πŸ‘

Hole Of The Week - 8th Hole, Carne Golf Links - Kilmore Course, Ireland ⛳️

From the tee, you'll need x-ray vision to spot the green on this par 4. The fairway takes a sharp right turn behind a massive sand dune that's bigger than Patrick Reed's ego.

But wait, there's more... The descent to the corner of the dogleg is about 35 feet, which is taller than your average giraffe. Be warned that if you try to unleash a monster drive away from the dune, it might end up lost in the rough.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can attempt a 320-yard rip over the dune and aim straight for the green. But don't worry, there are safer lines to take down the left, unless you're like me and enjoy ruining your scorecard πŸ™ƒ.
