Fore A Laugh - Brutal Golf Sign πŸ˜‚

I always thought Disney was supposed to be a place that allowed you to dream.

That doesn't seem to be the case at their golf courses though, check this sign at the Disney Palm Golf Course in Orlando, Florida πŸ‘‡

They do have a point if you're 53 yards off line, I'm not sure I need it rubbing in when I'm on holiday though πŸ˜‚

Talking Point - Does the PGA Tour want to be LIV Golf? πŸ‘€

The PGA Tour announced that they're adopting a new policy - in certain events they'll be limiting the fields to 70-80 players and guaranteeing they all play a full 72 holes. Sounds like they're taking a page out of LIV Golf's playbook, but hey, let's not call it copying - let's call it 'being inspired.'

Rory Mcilroy looking frustrated.

Rory McIlroy has been one of the main players to oppose LIV Golf.

The upside is that now you'll see even more from your favourite players. Remember that time when Tiger didn't make the cut and your weekend was ruined? Yeah, no more of that nonsense.

Plus, let's not forget the green stuff - no, not the fairways, the money! Sponsors are going to be jumping for joy when they see their big-name players hanging around all weekend. And which golfers don't love more money? πŸ‘€

But, let's keep it real, there's always a downside. No cut events could turn out to be a real snooze-fest if someone's 20 shots behind the leader. So, bring snacks, folks, it might be a long one!

Equipment Round Up - Garmin Approach R10 πŸ“Š

If you're anything like me, you lie in bed every night wondering what you can do to get slightly better at Golf... Sad I know 😩

Well, one way of improving is by using a mobile launch monitor. One of the best on the market is the Garmin Approach R10 πŸ‘‡

The Garmin Approach R10 is generally considered one of the best value for money launch monitors available.

Who is it for? All golfers. Getting feedback on your golf shots should help any golfer, no matter what their ability is.

What data can I get? The amount of data on offer from the Garmin R10 is really impressive, from carry distance to club path, there really is data from this device that could help any golfer. Check out the data available below πŸ‘‡

All data available from R10

There's loads of data available from the R10.

Is the data accurate? From our experience and testing, the answer is debatable. Certain pieces of data are very accurate, while others are not. People often complain that carry distances are initially short by 20 yards, but this can be fixed with calibration and tweaks. However, most users agree that club path/face data isn't always accurate and spin data is even less so.

Is the data accurate enough though? Honestly, I think it is. Top end launch monitors cost in excess of Β£10,000, so can you honestly expect a Β£500 device to be just as accurate? As long as the basics such as clubhead speed, ball speed, carry and general shot shape are accurate, I think this is enough to work with.

What features does it have? On the Garmin R10 you can hit the driving range, play virtual courses (there's 42,000+ to choose from, it's likely that even your local course will be on there) and enter weekly competitions. This can all be done at the driving range or even into a net at home.

In summary, I don't think you'd want a PGA Pro to give you a lesson using one of these, if you're changing your swing you want 100% accurate data. However, if you own a net and want a piece of kit that will encourage you to practice more, whilst also giving you some insight as to where the ball would have gone. I'd highly recommend this!

On Tour - Wins for Kirk, Howell III and Siem πŸŽ‰

PGA Tour

We saw a lower profile field on the PGA Tour last week for the Honda Classic. This was to be expected after a lot of the big names turned up for the Genesis Invitational the week before. Chris Kirk beat Eric Cole in a play off, after both ended the tournament 14 under.

This ended an almost 8 year drought for American Chris Kirk πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

LIV Golf Tour

It was the first event on the LIV Golf tour last week, the event in Mexico saw Charles Howell III finish on -16, to give him a 4 shot win.

The event saw the American win $4m, plus a quarter of the $3m prize for winning the team event with Crushers GC too. Not bad eh 😰

DP World TourThe DP World Tour stayed in Asia for the Indian Open last week. It was popular german Marcel Siem who ended up a 1 shot winner over Yannik Paul.

Hole Of The Week - 7th Hole, Whistling Straits Golf Club, Wisconsin ⛳️

3rd Hole Old Head Golf Links

The beautiful 3rd hole at Old Head Golf Links

The 7th hole at Whistling Straits Golf Club  is a real crowd-pleaser - mostly because it has a tendency to swallow up golf balls faster than John Daly at McDonalds πŸ”

With a narrow fairway and a deceptively tricky green, this hole is the perfect opportunity to test your skills and your sense of humor. Just be sure to bring plenty of extra balls - you'll likely need them!
