Fore A Laugh - Stealing An Augusta Divot ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Has your partner ever complained you don't buy them any flowers or plants. Mine does all the time. Well a genius on reddit has found a new plant for their home, I think I would love it more than my partner.

A divot landed next to him at the Masters, he hid it in a chip bag and took it home. It's fair to say he's looking after it well ๐Ÿ‘‡

Talking Point - Should You Get Fitted For A Golf Ball? ๐Ÿค“

To get fitted for a golf ball or not to get fitted for a golf ball, that is the question.

Well, actually, it's not really a question because there's no denying the importance of having the right ball for your game. But should you go through the hassle of getting fitted, or just keep buying whatever ball is recommended for your handicap online?

Let's weigh up both sides of the argument and see if we can come to a conclusion.

Getting fitted for a ยฃ45/$50 product seems a lot of effort. You'll likely need to schedule an appointment, drive to a fitting center, and spend some time hitting various balls while a fitter analyzes your swing and ball flight. It's not exactly a few clicks on Amazon. But if you're serious about your game, it's definitely worth the effort.

If you're the kind of golfer who just wants to get out there and hit the ball around without worrying too much about the technical stuff, getting fitted might seem like overkill. After all, can't you just buy a ball that looks good and feels right and call it a day? Well, sure, you could do that, but you might be missing out on some serious benefits.

Getting fitted for a golf ball can help you optimize your performance on the course. A fitter can analyze your swing speed, launch angle, spin rate, and other factors to determine which ball will work best for you. You might be surprised to learn that the ball you've been using all these years isn't actually the best fit for your game. With the right ball, you could see improvements in distance, accuracy, and overall score ๐Ÿ’ช.

Plus, let's be real, getting fitted for a golf ball is kind of a cool experience. It's like going to a spa for your golf game. You get to try out different balls and see how they perform, and you might even learn something new about your swing in the process. It's a great way to get some expert advice and guidance on your game, and you'll feel like a real pro when you step onto the course with your custom-fit ball.

So, to answer the question (which wasn't really a question in the first place), yes, you should definitely consider getting fitted for a golf ball. It might require a bit of effort on your part, but the benefits are worth it. And who knows, you might even improve as a result of it ๐Ÿ‘€.

Equipment Round Up - Callaway Big Bertha 2023 Driver ๐Ÿค”

We all know the Paradym is the main driver that Callaway released in 2023, however, there is another one... the Big Bertha. We've taken a look at it below ๐Ÿ‘‡

Callaway Big Bertha 2023

Who is it for? Big Bertha 2023 is draw bias, making it ideal for higher handicap golfers or those with a severe slice.

What about the tech? Most draw bias drivers employ a low and deep/back centre of gravity, however the Big Bertha 2023 does the opposite. It has a forward centre of gravity, much like Callaway's best low spin drivers. They claim that moving the weight forward will reduce a high handicappers spin which will currently be making their slice even worse.

How do they look? The Big Bertha 2023 looks nowhere near as nice as the Paradym or other premium drivers. It isn't an ugly club by any means but it doesn't have the classy look the others do in my opinion. The head has a red and silver finish with the Callaway logo in the usual places.

Big Bertha 2023 Headcover

What is performance like? Personally I struggled to hit this club, it felt extremely light to swing and I didn't really like that. To be fair though, I'm not necessarily the target market, I like to think I've tamed my slice (for now).

In summary, I can see why high handicappers would gravitate towards this club. However, for the high price point, I think you'd be best investing in tuition and buying a regular driver!

On Tour - A Team Based Event On The PGA Tour ๐Ÿ†

PGA Tour

It was time for the only team based event on the PGA Tour, with the Zurich Classic Of New Orleans. The tournament sees the four-ball (best-ball) format in the first and third rounds and foursomes (alternate shot) in the second and final rounds.

Nick Hardy and Davis Riley ended up winners after shooting a total -30, 2 ahead of Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor.

DP World Tour

The DP World Tour travelled to Japan last weekend at Ishioka Golf Club. Popular Australian Lucas Herbert ended as the winner, after an excellent recovery in a play off against Aaron Cockerill.

That gives Lucas Herbert his 3rd win on the DP World Tour ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ.

LIV Golf Tour

They headed down to Adelaide, Australia on the LIV Golf Tour last week. Talor Gooch won the players tournament with -19, 2nd place went to Anirban Lahiri who finished on -16.

For those who care (not sure many do), 4Aces won the team event with a combined -47.

I actually managed to catch some of this event and really enjoyed it ๐Ÿ‘€

Hole Of The Week - 9th Hole, St Annes Old Links, England โ›ณ๏ธ

The 9th hole at St Annes Old Links may look like a peaceful par 3, but don't be fooled - this bad boy will test your nerves and your aim. The green is nestled snugly between the dunes, and if you're not careful, you'll end up with a face full of sand (not to mention a bad scorecard).

If you're ever lucky enough to play it, take my advice and pack an extra club - you'll thank me later. And don't be ashamed if you end up leaving the flag short - it's a deceiving green. And if it all goes wrong, you can always go to the theme park in the distance right? ๐ŸŽข
